New for 2027! Just added
Virtual January Residency 2027: Process, Produce, and Present: Starting January 11 and ending January 27
Join me on Zoom this January for a three-week virtual residency in the process of using mixed media. This is a self-directed studio experience designed for artists seeking creative momentum, experimentation, accountability, and connection within a supportive artistic community. The residency is a “build upon” experience that can be repeated season after season. Emerging to Mid-Career level with content valuable for both abstractionists and realists.
Two hour sessions will be on Mondays and Wednesdays for three consecutive weeks. Dates are January 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, and 27. 1-3pm Eastern Time. $195
Over the course of three weeks, artists will participate in six live online sessions (two per week). Each two-hour session is designed as a conversational check-in combined with a focused live demonstration led by me. There will also be twenty minute “in the zone” sketching time where we work together in sketchbooks. Sessions are intentionally fast-paced and concise, allowing you to return to your own studio practice and continue pursuing your self-directed residency goals.
Throughout the residency, participants will also have access to individualized support through text or email for questions, and feedback.
Demo topics will include:
Repeat Without Repeating — Start with one shape, symbol, mark or motif and show how repetition can evolve through scale, orientation, transparency, material and placement.
From Sketchbook to Serious Work — Select a seemingly insignificant sketchbook mark and demonstrate how you extract its idea rather than simply copying the sketch.
The Unifying Intervention — Put three works from a developing series together and ask: What single intervention might strengthen their relationship?
When Is It Finished? — Bring in a nearly resolved painting and make the final decisions live.
Artists of all experience levels and working in all media are welcome.
If you’ve been craving structure without rigidity, community without pressure, and dedicated time to reconnect with your creative practice, this residency is for you.
Sessions will be recorded and available with a private YouTube link.
